assassin's_creed:_origins - a video game published in 2017 by Ubisoft. It is the tenth game in the main series set in the Assassin's Creed universe.

The game is set in a fictional history that re-imagines real-world historical events as a centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control.

The player is, in reality, playing as a modern-day character, Layla Hassan, a researcher who uses a machine called the "Animus" to view and control ancestral memories encoded in DNA from Egyptian mummies. In this game the ancestral memories belong to Bayek, a Medjay (sort of a policeman) from Egypt during the end of the Ptolemaic period (49–47 BC) and his wife Aya.

The story explores the origins of the centuries-long conflict between the Brotherhood of Assassins and The Order of the Ancients who are forerunners to the Templar Order.
